IIC Technlogies UK, starts bathymetric survey in the lakes of Sava, Finland.

posted in development by admin

Last month IIC Technologies owned launches, fully equipped with up-to-date survey equipment, returned to Sava in Finland for the second season of bathymetric survey. The lakes of Sava had been heavily frozen throughout the winter months but following the big thaw, the IIC Technologies team rapidly mobilised 5 survey vessels to begin surveying the 800 km2 area of the Finnish Lakeland to the 2.5m contour line using single beam and multi beam echo sounders.

The surveys are being conducted on behalf of the Finnish Transport Agency (FTA) to the exacting standards of the International Hydrographic Organisation. These standards are specifically designed for navigational chart purposes to ensure that all dangers are found, an area in which IIC Technologies specialises.

The team have quite a challenge on their hands. Some of the areas are un-surveyed and with shallow waters and rocky outcrops the conditions can be testing. Nonetheless IIC Technologies loves a challenge and the team will be surveying until the lakes freeze over with the onset of winter.
