Hydrographic Surveyor:

We are currently expanding our hydrographic data acquisition capability and looking to recruit qualified hydrographic surveyors at various levels of experience to supplement our growing team. Our surveys take place aboard vessels of various sizes (Multibeam) or small aircraft (Bathymetric LiDAR). Successful candidates must be self-motivated, organized and quick learners who excel in a multifaceted workflow environment. The hydrographer must work well both independently and within a team setting, adapt quickly to new tasks and responsibilities, and effectively manage multiple tasks. Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, are a must, as is the ability to be a strategic thinker, able to assess challenges, identify solutions, and execute. You must be able to solve problems and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

We are hiring at the Intermediate and Senior level.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively internationally. Travel constitutes a large percentage time in these positions.
  • Working onboard vessels of varying sizes and/or small planes (LiDAR operations)
  • Working in inclement weather and/or in remote locations
  • Ability to carry and install equipment in excess of 50lbs

Hydrographic Technician Positions


  • Completion of a S-5 Cat B recognized training program
  • Experience with QINSy or similar for data acquisition and CARIS HIPS/SIPS for data processing
  • Completion of STCW or equivalent
  • Prior work experience working on boats in some capacity preferred


Working alongside more senior hydrographers to perform data acquisition and/or data processing, learning and applying health and safety procedures, and carrying out other activities as required to perform surveys.

Hydrographic Surveyor Positions


  • All Hydrographic Technician Requirements in addition to following items:
  • Two years of practical experience as a hydrographic surveyor, or designation as a Level II Hydrographic Technician from a recognized institution
  • Practical knowledge with several sensor and hydrographic software packages
  • Experience applying Health and Safety protocols


Assist with project mobilizations and performance of sensor calibrations, promote Health, Safety, and Environment procedures and culture throughout team, perform data acquisition and/or data processing, and create related reports. Mentor and train Junior Hydrographers. Assist in management of survey data and in data processing and data quality control.

Senior Hydrographic Surveyor / Party Chief Positions


  • Completion of IHO S-5 Cat A Program, or alternatively designation as a Level I Surveyor from a recognized institution
  • Experience in Project Planning
  • Minimum of three years of practical experience as a hydrographic surveyor
  • Experience in the implementation and execution of HSE procedures
  • Proficient in multibeam survey equipment, and installation of tide gauges, ADCP, and related ancillary equipment
  • Experience mobilizing projects and completing Report of Surveys
  • Solid theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of all aspects of hydrographic surveying
  • Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in overcoming challenges
  • Have strong analytical and communication skills
  • Can work both independently and as part of a team


Able to competently handle the duties of a Party Chief or Charge Surveyor. Perform project planning, project mobilizations, troubleshooting, and quality control duties for survey projects, and oversee survey teams. Ensure HSE procedures are in place and followed. Approve calibrations, interact with client, and ensure that survey data meets collection requirements. Ensure continuous training of other team members. Complete Report of Surveys and ensure that all other project documentation is complete.
