Nov 2007:

IIC will attend the Hydro 2007 Conference in Cairns, Australia, to be held November 21-24 at the Cairns Convention Centre.  We hope to see many of our friends and colleagues at the IIC booth.  Click here for more information on the conference.

 

Oct 2007:

IIC Technologies is pleased to announce the signing of a Framework Agreement with the UKHO for Data Sourcing & Manipulation. IIC will provide a variety of services, including: data collection, data validation & verification, advisory and consultancy services, and data transformation to improve consistency and usability. This agreement further enhances the close relationship that IIC has developed with the UKHO.

 

Sep 2007:

Electronic Charting Workshop: IIC will host its 3rd Biennial Workshop on Electronic Charting, January 24-25 2008, in N. Vancouver, Canada.
Building on the success of previous workshops, this event will connect hydrographic representatives from around the world in a constructive forum to discuss and explore current issues and the latest advances in electronic charting. Topics will include the development of hydrographic database systems, the harmonization of ENCs, the latest in product standards, and the distribution and coverage of ENC data. Aug 2007:

IIC Technologies is pleased to announce the final delivery of its portion of the NATO Bi-SC AIS Core GIS data contract. Working with Tenet Technology, IIC scanned, rectified and transformed a large portion of paper map and aviation charts as part of the extensive NATO initiative to create an open and shareable mapping database. IIC digitized 3300 sheets which will be transformed into a GML-encoded JPEG format (GMLJP2) and combined with processed geospatial data from many other sources.

 

Jul 2007:

Excellent ENC news: IIC Technologies has recently been awarded a contract to produce ENCs for the French national hydrographic office (SHOM) in partnership with CARIS BV. Using a variety of source data, including SHOM’s hydrographic database, IIC will produce a new series of ENCs with the option to deliver an additional set of ENCs at a future date.  In 2003, IIC and CARIS were awarded the first SHOM contract for ENC production.

May 2007:

IIC secures A&E prime contract: IIC is pleased to announce its first Architectural and Engineering (A&E) contract with the US Government. This contract, with the US Army Corps of Engineers, is for the continual maintenance of Inland ENCs (IENCs) for the US inland waterways. Continual maintenance will consist of the regular application of local Notices to Mariners in addition to the application of new survey sources, which will make IENCs the most up-to-date navigation product on the inland waterways.  Including options, the contract will run for five years. Apr 2007:

IIC is proud to announce it has subcontracted to HSA Systems Pty Ltd in a major contract to assist the Australian Hydrographic Office achieve full ENC coverage by 2010.  The team will compile from source data 82 new paper charts and 322 ENCs, and will also perform conversion and remediation work on 38 existing charts. Mar 2007:

Feb 2007:

The UK Hydrographic Office has selected IIC Technologies to be its supplier for the capture of ENC datasets. This key contract includes ENC production services with options to extend the work for up to 4 years in the future. IIC has been a proud supplier to the UKHO since 2000 when IIC was awarded the UK’s first ENC data capture contract.  Over 500 ENCs have been provided since that time.

 

Jan 2007:

NATO contract: Along with TENET and Galdos, IIC is part of a team awarded a large GIS Data Preparation contract by NATO involving the scanning and conversion of several thousand maps and charts to GMLJP2. Click here for the official news release.

June 2006:

IIC is pleased to announce our first contract for validation services under the Multinational Geospatial Co-Production Program.This is an important milestone for our MGCP team and it's strong indication of the confidence that defence geospatial agencies place in our abilities. This project compliments the several MGCP production contracts that IIC has already secured. Please contact our Vancouver for the official news release.

May 2006:

Look for our booth at the Canadian Hydrographic Conference (CHC 2006), June 5-9 in Halifax. Since 2001, IIC's offices in Vancouver and Ellicott City have been actively involved in providing S-57 ENCs and other digital hydrographic services for government and industry. We hope to see all of our valued clients in Halifax!

April 2006:

As a long-term, enthusiastic contributor to the Hydrographic information Harmonization Working Group (HIHWG), IIC helped prepare the final report that was recently submitted to the Digital Geospatial Working Group (DGIWG) in April, 2006.  HIHWG was established to promote the interoperability of hydrographic vector data and reduce the resources required to produce electronic charts.  The report describes many key deliverables, including the development of a common content model, a specific metadata profile, XML validation schemas and a common ENC/DNC feature data catalog.

February 2006:

Printing paper charts from ENCs: IIC is pleased to announce the publication of an article in the December issue of Hydro International magazine. Co-authored with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the piece discribes the innovative process behind utilizing an Inland ENC file to print a fully illustrated river chart.

January 2006:

Building on Success: IIC is pleased to announce a sole-source contract from the UK Hydrographic Office for the production of Additional Military Layers. Having worked closely with the UKHO on ENC production, IIC is proud to expand its role with the delivery of AMLs designed specifically for the defence community. Based on high resolution source data, the Contour Line Bathymetry (CLB) AMLs will greatly enhance the situational awareness capability of sea elements.

December 2005:

IIC exhibited at Euromold 2005 at Frankfurt, a major European Engineering trade fair. Our stand (hall 5, stand A 132) attracted several visitors. Apart from present and prospective customers, we were also pleased to receive Mr. Ashok Kumar, the Consular of India at Frankfurt. 

IIC continues to support digital chart production in Canada with the award of three contracts from the Canadian Hydrographic Service.  These contracts, for ENC Production, ENC consulting, and Digital Chart Production, are for a duration of three years if all options are exercised.

October 2005:

IIC attends and sponsors the 2005 CARIS Conference, held from September 26-29th in Halifax. This conference was one of the largest hosted by CARIS and was attended by a broad cross section from industry. The IIC team enjoyed meeting up with old friends and making new acquaintances. September 2005:

IIC continues to help map the world: New Zealand has contracted IIC to provide satellite mapping as part of the Multi-National Geospatial Co-Production Program (MGCP). This data production leverages IIC's existing expertise in photogrammetry and VPF-based formats, resulting in a highly detailed and valuable spatial data product. This exciting project further establishes IIC's reputation as a high-quality supplier of MGCP data.

August 2005:

IIC is very pleased to announce it has been awarded a contract from Canada's Dept. of National Defence for AML production, DNC maintenance and data conversion. As the sole supplier to DND, IIC will work closely with various department elements to deliver complex digital chart services and technology solutions over the next five years. July 2005:

More ENC Maintenance Contracts! 3001 Inc. and IIC have been awarded a contract to continuously maintain Inland Electronic Navigation Charts (IENCs) for the Army Corps of Engineers. This project builds on the success of our other maintenance contracts with a growing number of hydrographic agencies. Contact our US office for more information.

June 2005:

IIC has won its third, large Asian telecom mapping project, using Ikonos stereo imagery. We have also just been awarded an extensive, 3-month contract in Africa for mapping over a dozen cities.

April 2005:

IIC Technologies has established a world class, international academy in Hyderabad to cater to the terrestrial and marine GIS industry (www.iicacademy.com). With the growing need for 'industry ready' personnel, IIC Academy will focus on teaching and training excellence. The first courses on CAD applications and photogrammetry begin May 5th. New mapping contracts announced: using innovative 3-D models from Quickbird imagery, IIC Technologies and a local partner will map the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. IIC has also won another telecom project in Jordan, using IKONOS stereo pairs.

March 2005:

IIC wins its second substantial contract to support the Telecom industry in Africa.  Using IKONOS stereopairs, IIC is extracting planimetric and topographic features to be used by several customers.

February 2005:

January 2005:

IIC is pleased to announce that Mr. Mike Casey has joined IIC as the VP of Geospatial Systems. Mr. Casey brings a wealth of geospatial experience to IIC, and he will help support our hydrographic and terrestrial business units from Ottawa.  Mr. Casey directed the CHS R&D program for many years and was involved in international hydrographic activities through the IHO CHRIS committee. Most recently, he directed the national marine cartography program CHS from 1999 to 2003.

December 2004:

ENC Maintenance Contract: In partnership with Allied GIS, Terra Surveys LLC, and 3001 Inc., IIC has been awarded a five year contract to continuously maintain NOAA ENCs. With hundreds of ENCs involved, the contract includes the application of critical corrections and new survey source data as it becomes available. September 2004:

Expanding our international reach: IIC has been awarded a mapping contract in Africa using 1 meter pixel resolution stereo images.

July 2004:

Join us at NAVO's Mulitbeam Visualization workshop in Gulfport, MS, and at the USACE Geospatial Technology conference in San Antonio, TX in August 

June 2004:

IIC Launches SCO tool, It is a productivity tool to convert Courses in Word format into multiple SCOs (Sharable Content Object) on the fly. These SCOs can now be easily uploaded into any Learning Management System.

May 2004:

IIC produces some of the first NATO Additional Military Layer (AML) products for Canada

IIC launches MeritScholar 6.3, the most advanced enterprise e-Learning Management System to date. This latest version includes an enhanced student study window, on-the-fly list editing, XML import/export and survey style test questions. It is also compatible with Oracle DB and Linux operating systems

April 2004:

IIC attends Hydro Ind 2004 in Mumbai, and presents several papers on ENCs, Additional Military Layers (AMLs), and Coastal Zone Management (CZM).

March 2004:

IIC develops an ENC to DNC Conversion Process for the Canadian Navy. This is the first semi-automated process of it's type in the world.

Photogrammetry division continues to grow as IIC delivers work for 9 US states and several international projects.

January 2004:
