JOB DESCRIPTION
Position : Business Development Manager
Reports To : VP - Sales (TBD); Currently to Divisional President
 
 
Position Responsibilities
Identifies, negotiates and manages strategic relationships with content and technological partners. Manages the marketing, sales and product development teams to implement business development initiatives. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance or marketing with 4 years of experience in the field or a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. May lead and direct the work of others. May report to an executive or a manager. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Facilitate client development through marketing and client services programs.
 
 
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Design, implement, and facilitate annual sales and marketing plan for the firm.
2. Plan and administer the firm's Sales Operations budget; support development of regional sales & marketing budgets.
3. Plan and implement sales plan in region, with major emphasis on target achievement and regional contribution levels to organization.
4. Supervise firm's RFP protocol process including soliciting RFPs from desirable prospective clients and writing proposals for new business; participate in planning and presentation sessions.
5. Oversee business development activities in region.
6. Develop and administer marketing database which includes client and prospect information, mailing list applications, access to financial reports, etc.
7. Supervise Regional Sales Manager(s). Make staffing and hiring decisions within region.
 
 
Employment Standards
Education : College degree required. Concentration in Engineering, Sales preferred.
Experience : At least five years in sales & marketing role within professional services environment. Strong leadership and consensus building skills; sales management and strategic planning experience; a proven track record in developing and administering a sales program.
Required Skills : Must be a self-starter, highly organized, and able to work alone as well as with all levels in the organization. Polished presentation and interpersonal skills. Must possess top level business management, interpersonal, and facilitation skills. Needs good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications.
Special Skills : Background in engineering, manufacturing and product design a plus.
